Treatment Nose Bleeds
This section is about what over the counter treatments are available (not all treatments may be available in that country) and how they help.
Aim:
- Sit down, stay upright (do not lie down as this can increase your blood pressure) and firmly pinch the soft part of lower nose for 20 minutes.
- Lean forward and breath through your mouth, do not tilt head back one may choke on blood.
- Place an ice pack or cold compress or ice wrapped in a tea cloth or thin cloth and press on nose , do not put direct ice on the nose (be careful if your skin is sensitive to temperature change).
- Do not blow your nose; pick your nose, bend down or do any form of exercise or expose oneself in conditions that will dry your nose out for at least 12-24 hours.
- When sleeping or lying down try to have your head above the heart level.
Saline Sprays/Drops
These are nasal spray/drops which will has natural antiseptic properties and will help to irrigate the nose of any blood debris.
Vitamins
Multivitamins are not intended to prevent long term conditions, reduce infection and is not proven (or data is weak) to help with cancer.
These are essential nutrients that the body requires in small amounts to function properly.
