Treatment Dry Mouth

Aim:
- To bring back moisture in the mouth and activate the saliva glands helping to relieve the discomfort, help to improve the digestion of food and help against oral infections.
- To restore good oral hygiene.
Good oral hygiene is when the mouth and teeth look and smell healthy.
- Teeth are free of debris and clean with no plaque, decay, tartar and cavities.
- Good breath.
- Teeth are firmly fixed in gums and gums dont bleed or hurt when brushed.
- No more sensitivity to teeth.
Treatments are available in gels, sprays and liquids.
Non-alcoholic Mouthwash
- Mouth washes have antiseptic/antibacterial activity used to decrease plaque, tartar and decrease chance of gum disease, bleeding and cavities.
- They also help with sensitive teeth and come in refreshing flavours to promote good fresh breath.
- It should be used at different times of the day to brushing your teeth for extra protection. Please not overuse as some mouth washes can cause staining of teeth and oral soreness.
- If fluoride is in products these help to strengthen teeth and reduce tooth decay.
Saliva replacement products/substitutes
- This helps to replace the saliva that keeps mouth moist, it should be checked with your medical doctor first.
Re-hydration sachets
- This helps to replace the fluid and salts electrolytes excreted in your diarrhoea and helps to re-hydrate yourself reducing symptoms and should be considered if one is dehydrated, had vomited regularly and recently and/or have diarrhoea.
Vitamins
Multivitamins are not intended to prevent long term conditions, reduce infection and is not proven (or data is weak) to help with cancer.
These are essential nutrients that the body requires in small amounts to function properly.
