Aim:
Treatment involves breaking down the air bubbles in the stomach, this will then be released as wind or burp and bring comfort to the baby.
Lactase
This enzyme breaks down the lactose in milk allowing it to be digested more easily.
Alkaline Bicarbonate Products
These products are said to help relieve pain and wind by neutralising acid in stomach and produce carbon dioxide in the baby allowing more wind of smaller bubbles which can be released as wind or help the baby to burp more easily.
Anti-flatulence Agents
(dimethicone or simethicone)
These products help to disperse the wind and make the patient feel more comfortable.
