The Infection Service | Medtick

The Infection Service

What is it?

  • Please refer to our The Infection Service to see if one has developed an infection before visiting your medical Doctor or purchasing antibiotics (if applicable).
  • Pharmacist may be able to prescribe antibiotics (depending on qualification and their country law):
    • Please note pharmacist will do an assessment first to see if antibiotics are suitable and will only prescribe them according to their clinical judgment and will refuse if they feel that is the clinical correct decision
    • Do not assume antibiotics will be given because one may feel they need them.

Rash:

Rash conditions are difficult to diagnose:

We would say as a guide:

  1. Rule out Meningitis, Septicaemia, Sepsis, aggressive Skin cancer or skin changes and other hospital conditions under ‘Skin
  2. First check ‘Over The Counter’ skin conditions – see ‘Anatomy page’
  3. If one feels it is not those skin conditions, then check the Infection service for an infectious rash.
  4. If one feels its is not an infectious rash then look at Rash aftercare section.
