General Tips Scabies
- Wash linen and clothing at 50°C or dry clean or use a hot iron to prevent re-infection or placed in plastic bags for 72 hours to kill mites.
- Try to wear mittens so dont scratch or itch skin.
- Try not to scratch skin because increase risk of an infection.
- Do not share towels or flannels.
- Apply soothing creams/lotions after completed course of treatment
- Oral anti-histamine may help with itching if suitable
- Let work members/colleagues/school know if have been infected, particularly where physical contact work is involved.
- Avoid sexual contact till condition has cleared.
- Condoms and other contraception can’t stop crabs from spreading.
- All those who have sexual relations should have an STD test.
