Painkiller medication overuse (associated with taking triptans or opioids for 10 or more days per month, or standard pain killers for 15 or more days per month)

Patients should not use these products more than two days in a week and improvement can take up to 12 weeks, but that there may be some short-term initial worsening of headache upon withdrawal of the causative medication.
