General Tips Ringworm
- Infection can be picked up from soil, so wash thoroughly after gardening or playing on soil.
- Wash hands regularly especially after patting/grooming cats and dogs. or working with animals especially vets and farmers (If pet is suspected to have ringworm please take to your vet for treatment).
- Do not share clothing, combs and brushes, bed linen, toys and towels/flannels.
- Wash all clothing, bed linen, towels, toys and pets.
- Clean surfaces regularly.
- Try to wear loose clothing.
- Avoid hot damp and wet environments e.g. Gyms.
- Treat all patients infected simultaneously (all at once)
- Do not scratch or pick at the infection (If one believes they have a skin infection see Medtick Underlying infection service).
- Anti-fungal powders (if suitable) can be used to prevent re-infection.
