What is it?
When one is under pressure and it turns into a condition called stress.
- People can react in many ways to stress, some feel they can’t cope while others feel motivated, some feels somewhere in between the two.
- It can affect how you behave, feel, think and work and can lead to sleep problems, sweating, appetite changes and difficulty in concentrating.

Diagnosis
According to the DSM-5, a diagnosis of GAD requires anxiety and worry that are associated with at least three of the following six symptoms, occurring on more days than not, for at least 6 months:
- Restlessness or feeling keyed-up or on edge
- Being easily fatigued
- Difficulty concentrating or mind going blank
- Irritability
- Muscle tension
- Sleep disturbance
Symptoms must result in the patient’s impaired ability to function and cannot be attributed to a separate medical condition.

- Depressed or low mood?
- Go over and over things?
- Have racing thoughts?
- Imagining the worst?

Behaviour:
- Being unreasonable?
- Change of eating habits i.e. eating more comfort food or not eating at all?
- Drinking more/smoking more/social drug misuse?
- Feeling unsociable?
- Having temper outbursts?
- On the go all the time?
- Difficult to concentrate / difficulty in concentrating/memory problems?
- Talking more or faster?
Physical:
- Increase thirst, heavy sweating and need to urinate frequently?
- General discomfort (muscle weakness), uneasiness or ill feeling (malaise) and/or fatigue (tiredness)?
- Short of breath/breathing difficulties?
- Dry mouth?
- Bad breath?
- Balance and dizziness problems?
- Heart palpitations, irregular heartbeats?
- Voice changes/or a hoarse voice?
- Headache which is on and off or a constant headache longer than 24 hours?
- Swollen lymph glands and/or reoccurring mouth ulcers?
- Aching, painful muscles, muscle cramps/spasms/stiffness?
- Sexual problems?
- Abdominal pain and/or are constant violently vomiting or vomiting longer than two days?
- Feel full quickly when eating trapped wind and burping (‘foul rotten egg smell’)?
- Long term persistent indigestion, frequent heartburn or constant abdominal pain?
- Chest pain?
