What is it?

A condition which cause lumps in and on the nose, mouth, lips throat and respiratory tract.

  • It occurs normally due to reactivity of capillaries to heat (blood vessels enlarge as react to heat, facial flushing).
  • It is a slow worsening condition bacterial infection and occurs mainly in people of 10-30 years of age and is associated with rosacea.
  • People who have a weak immune system are particularly vulnerable.

It mainly occurs in world regions of:

  • Africa
  • Central and Eastern Europe
  • Central and South America
  • India
  • Middle East
  • The Pacific
  • The Philippines

Cause

  • Bacteria: Klebsiella rhinoscerlomatis
  • Long contact with infected patients

Symptoms

  • Runny nose, congestion, cold not cleared by over the counter medication or greater than three weeks?
  • Smelly, pussy, runny or blocked nose and dry crusting in the nose up to weeks to months?
  • Lumps form in nose causing nasal blockage and change shape of nose?
  • Nose bleeds?
  • Dry cough longer than three weeks and/or breathing difficulties?
  • Changes in taste, smell and hoarse voice?
