Nappy Rash

  • Nappy rash is caused when the baby’s skin is in long contact with urine and faeces.

 

Cause

  • Friction/rubbing or chaffing of the skin
  • Premature birth
  • They are unwell or recovering from their vaccination
  • Skin is sensitive or eczema run in family
  • Upset tummy and diarrhoea
  • Taking medication causing dry skin and diarrhoea
  • Diet has changed, during weaning or breast to bottle
  • Nappy been on for a long time on baby or lack of nappy changing.

Symptoms

Does one have:

  • Nappy area red, swollen, hot (inflamed)?
  • Itchy?
  • Is it spotty or blotchy?
  • Scaly skin spread to upper thighs?
  • Is it like a fungal infection, moist, red, bright and marginated rash, in folds of skin or white red/pimples?
