Myxoid cyst

What is it?

A round growth usually occurring on the finger.

  • These cysts are believed to form from deteriorated tissues.
  • Myxoid cysts may be associated with osteoarthritis.
  • It tends to occur in older persons over 40 years and females are affected more than males.
Surgical removal is the most effective treatment for a myxoid cyst, NOT using wart, callous, corns bunions, verruca treatment.

  • Small round or oval bumps,usually found near the base of the nail, slightly off to one side or the other?
  • Size can be 1 centimeter (cm) in size?
  • Smooth, firm or fluid-filled spot/bump?
  • Fluid inside myxoid cysts is thick, sticky, and clear to yellowish in color?
  • Not usually painful, but the nearby joint may have arthritis pain?
  • Skin-colored, or translucent with a reddish or bluish tinge and often looks like a “pearl”?
  • Slow-growing?
