Froin’s Syndrome

What is it?

When the cerebrospinal fluid (normally a colourless liquid that cushions and protects the brain and the spine) changes becoming more yellow and thicker due to an increased amount of protein due to a spinal disease.

Cause

  • Any type of irritation to the meninges:
    • Meningitis
    • CerebroSpinal Fluid flow blockage tumor or abscess.

Symptoms

  • Numbness and tingling of extremities?
  • Unsteady gait, lack of balance?
  • Muscle cramps?
  • Fluctuating blood pressure?
  • Rapid heart rate?
  • Loss of sensation of movement (proprioception)?
