The big toe becomes angled outward to the middle of the foot and second toe, causing a bone to stick out at the base of the toe.
It tends to be more common in women since they wear more pointy shoes, poor fitting, tight and high heeled shoes or those who wear foot wear a lot and your toes are squeezed.
Symptoms
Does one have:
Swollen, bony bump at the edge of foot?
Pain and tenderness when pressed?
Big toes turned outwards at an angle towards your toes?
Hard, rough patches of skin due to the big toes overlapping second toe?
