Yips

What is it?

It is involuntary wrist spasms that occur most commonly when playing sports such as golf, tennis, cricket, darts, volleyball, snooker and baseball or a sport where one need to grip/hold an object and hit something.


Diagnosis Tests

  • Unknown
  • Neurological (nerve) condition affecting specific wrist muscles (focal dystonia)
  • Anxiety
  • Panic attack or under pressure to preform in a sport

Symptoms 

  • Aching, painful muscles, muscle cramps/spasms/stiffness?
  • Involuntary muscle jerk of wrist?
  • Tremors of wrist?
  • Twitches of wrist?
  • Spasms of wrist?
  • Freezing of wrist?
  • Can’t grip objects well?
  • Can’t throw ball well?
  • Can’t coordinate arm action well when playing a sport?
  • Symptoms getting worst when arm, wrist and hand in one position for a long time?
