What is it?

A dark (hyperpigmented) lesion caused by natural or artificial ultraviolet (UV) light.

  • It  may be single or multiple.
  • It is most often seen on the face, neck, forearms and occasionally the lower legs or on sun exposed areas.

Cause

  • Sun exposure (U.V light)
  • Those who burn easily and/or easily tan

Symptoms

  • Slow growing patches to approx 2 cm in diameter?
  • Well-defined, light brown to black, flat spots?
  • No changes to spots have occured?
