What is it?

Rapidly growing non-cancerous , non-infection overgrowth of tiny blood vessel (capillaries) filled-lesions.

Cause

  • Unknown
  • Injuries, but the reason for this isn’t known.
  • Bug bites
  • Pregnancy

Treatment

  • Chemotherapy treatment

Medication

  • Indinavir sulfate (Crixivan)
  • Isotretinoin (Accutane)
  • Acitretin (Soriatane)
  • Birth control pills

Symptoms

  • Appears very rapidly and grows as a pink pea-shaped (5-10mm) in diameter raised skin lump over two weeks?
  • Occurred after a Minor injury?
  • Bleed easily?
  • Sensitive/tender to the touch?

This condition can lead to:

  • Skin infections
  • Cover with a bandage as it may bleed easily
  • Approximately half of pyogenic granulomas come back after treatment, especially those lesions located on the trunk of teenagers and young adults.
