A skin disease that causes the development of small, scaling, raised spots (papules) on the skin.
There are two forms:
Pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta
A mild form and last less than four weeks.
Pityriasis lichenoides chronica
A long term skin condition that last longer than four weeks to years , one can have episodes of the skin condition meaning when it does eventually clear , new spots (papules) form.
The condition is not contagious and is thought not to be inherited.
It tends to be common in males
Common locations include:
Scalp (rare)
Face (rare)
The body
Arms
Hands (rare)
Buttocks
Legs
Feet (rare)
Cause
Unknown, maybe:
Overgrowth of cells of the lymphatic system
Immune response to the skin and/or to an infection i.e.
