Nasal polyps are found in the nose and as they grow they can vary in size. It is thought they occur as the nasal lining called the mucus membrane becomes inflamed.
Large nasal polyps can block the nasal passages and cause nasal symptoms as well as causing sinusitis and infections.
It is more common in men than women and normally affect persons 40 years and older and one can increase the risk of having them with the conditions indicated below.
It can occur rarely in children normally with a condition below:
This can be to develop septal abscess and/or untreated septal hematoma may lead to a hole in the area separating the nostrils, called a septal perforation. and/or the area may collapse, leading to a deformity of the outer nose called a saddle nose deformity.
