What is it?
In our airways one has tiny little hairs called cilia which help to remove foreign particles and bacteria, viruses out from our lungs, nose and ears).
- This syndrome occurs if the cilia are not functioning properly or is abnormal and is part of a condition (sub-type) called primary ciliary dyskinesia.
- Primary ciliary dyskinesia covers a wide range of disease on why cilia are not functioning properly though the symptoms are very similar.

- Genetic disorder (family history)
Symptoms
- Runny nose longer than three weeks, congestion, cold not cleared by over the counter medication?
- Sinus headache due to congestion?
- Regular ear infections and pain?
- Short of breath or breathing difficulties?
- Tight chest?
- Regular and reoccurring chest infections?
- Dry cough longer than three weeks?
- Have initially a persistent dry cough which has now become a chesty cough with yellow/green and/or blood stained phlegm?
- Fingers becoming more curved or ends becoming larger (finger clubbing)?
