What is it?

A sweaty skin condition that is often seen on children’s hand and feet.

It tends to affect to those who have the following conditions:

It tends to affect boys more than girls and occurs more in the hotter (summer) months than colder months.

Cause

  • Friction (when foot moves up and down in the sole of shoes especially in sandals)
  • Sweaty environments (especially in vinyl shoes and trainers)

Symptoms

  • Skin is scaly?
  • Cracks occur on top of toe and/or ball (forefoot) of feet?
  • Web of the feet (between the toes are not affected)?
  • Top of toes and sole of the forefoot becomes shiny and glazed?
