Bite And Sting

  • When an animal, insect, fish, tick and/or plant stings or bites causing an allergic reaction.
  • The body’s defence system, the immune system treats it like a threat and thinks it is under attack and produces a variety of chemicals in the body (e.g. histamines).
  • It is these chemicals that cause the symptom that causes the variety of symptoms in allergies.
  • Most insects (such as ants, mosquitoes, flies, spiders, ticks, and mites) do not cause such a severe reaction, however insects such as fire ants, bee’s, wasps and hornets can cause a severe reaction and it is important to get it treated.
  • Regarding  a Bee sting it may sometimes leave behind a stinger attached to a venom sac,  it  is  important to remove this, they tend to only sting once.
  • Bedbugs prefer biting the head and neck area, often biting several times in the same area and leaving a group of lesions.
