What is it?

A severe symmetrical skin condition associated with celiac disease.

Cause

Symptoms

  • Itchy, stinging rash with blisters that burst when scratched developing mainly on elbows, knees and buttock (can happen anywhere)?
  • Diarrhoea?
  • Bulky pale faeces?
  • Vomiting after eating a particular food?
  • Grow poorly?
  • Smelly stools, oily stools?
  • Anaemic (feel tiredness, breathlessness due to lack of oxygen in blood)?
  • Tired or breathless after eating a particular food?
  • Break wind after eating a particular food?
  • Bloated after eating a particular food?
  • Mouth ulcers after eating particular food?
  • ‘Come and go’ stomach pain after eating particular food?

  • Linear IgA disease – an autoimmune condition causing blisters and hives to develop on the skin, especially on the arms, legs, lower back and/or buttocks.
