Phosphate Toxicity - Medtick

Phosphate Toxicity

What is it?

Persons with high phosphate levels in the blood occurs when the kidney cannot remove phosphate fast enough.

  • In some persons with long term kidney disease, high phosphate levels cause calcium levels in the blood to drop causing low calcium  (hypocalcemia symptoms). since phosphate will bind to calcium in the blood.
