What is it?

It is an open sore/wound in the stomach (gastric) or in the beginning of the small intestine (duodenal ulcer).

Symptoms

(Some may have no symptoms at all)

  • Burning and/or dull pain in centre of abdomen, between belly button and rib cage particularly at night or after food?
  • Blood in faeces (like coffee grounds)?
  • Black/tarry stools?
  • Pain and difficulty when swallowing?
  • Loss of appetite?
  • Experience sickness or nausea feeling?
  • Constant abdominal pain after eating [person feel that certain foods (like fatty choices) makes symptoms worse, while other foods either alleviate or do not affect them]?
  • Pain on an empty stomach?
  • Cough or vomit up blood?
  • Short of breath and/or breathing difficulties?
  • Feel full quickly when eating trapped wind and burping  (‘foul rotten egg smell’)?
  • Long term persistent indigestion and/or frequent heartburn or constant abdominal pain and swelling?
  • Abdominal pain and/or are constant violently vomiting or vomiting longer than two days?
  • General discomfort (muscle weakness), uneasiness or ill feeling (malaise) and/or fatigue (tiredness)?
  • Unexplained weight loss?
