Fibroids (Fibromyomas) - Medtick

Fibroids (Fibromyomas)

What is it?

Non-cancerous tumours that grow in or around the womb and are common in one in four women developing it in some stage of their life occurring more regularly in afro-Caribbean women.

  • Occur mainly between ages of 16 to 50 years old.

Diagnosis Tests

  • Pelvic ultrasonography is the most cost-effective imaging method, providing information on size, location, and number of fibroids and ruling out adnexal masses. It is limited, however, by less-accurate resolution if the uterine volume is greater than 375 mL or if fibroids number is more than four.
