This  condition is a associated with:

  • Lung disorders particularly lung scarring (Hammam- Rich syndrome) – inflammation of the lung interstitial – disease of the ‘lace like’ tissues the lungs alveoli (air sacs).
  • Diseases that are from mediastinum [the area that separates the lungs. It is surrounded by the breastbone in front and the spine in back, with the lungs on either side. It encompasses the heart, aorta, oesophagus, thymus (a gland in the back of the neck) and trachea (windpipe).]
  • Liver disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Inflammatory bowel diseases:
