It is the inflammation (hot, red and swelling) of the appendix.
If left untreated it could burst causing bacteria to spread into the blood (sepsis), damage other body parts (peritonitis) and can cause a serious bacterial infection.
Epiploic Appendagitis- peritoneal pouches (that range from size 0.5 cm- 5 cm made up of adipose tissues and blood vessels) that arise from the surface of the colon- large intestine- associated with diverticulitis.
